Abstract

Diarrhea is a condition of abnormal or unusual stool output. Changes that occur in the form of changes in volume, dilution, and frequency with or without blood mucus, such as more than 3 times/day and in neonates more than 4 times/day. It can be seen that the high prevalence of diarrheal disease is an indication of the habits of the Indonesian people in washing their hands. use of soap is still relatively low. Hand washing with soap (CTPS) is an easy way and does not need to be expensive. Therefore, getting used to CTPS is the same as teaching children and the whole family to live healthy from an early age. Thus, a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS) is firmly entrenched in the children and other family members. The purpose of this study was to apply handwashing health education to children with diarrhea at the Palembang BARI Hospital. The design used in this research is a case study with the intervention of implementing health education about hand washing in children at the Palembang BARI Hospital. With the subject of 2 children who suffer from diarrhea. From the results of nursing care for An"C" and An"T" the same diagnosis was obtained, namely lack of knowledge related to ignorance of hand washing procedures. . The nursing interventions carried out were explaining to patients and families about how to wash hands with soap using leaflets and demonstrating. The results of the evaluation were obtained in the patient's family washing their hands after each contact with the patient.
