(THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN AGE AND KNOWLEDGE OF MOTHER WITH ACTION EARLY BREASTFEEDING INITIATION (EBI) PERFORMED ON MATERNITY MOTHERS AT HUSNIYATI MATERNITY CLINIC PALEMBANG IN 2020)
Abstract
According to the World Health Organization (2013), in six developing countries the risk of infant death between 9 - 12 months increases 40% if the baby is not breastfed. For infants under the age of 2 months, this mortality rate increases to 48%, around 40% of under-five deaths occur in the first month of the baby's life. Early Breastfeeding Initiation is a process of breastfeeding babies immediately after birth, where babies are left looking for their own mother's nipples (not led to the nipples). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between age and maternal knowledge about Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) at BPM Husniyati Palembang in 2020. The population in this study was all mothers giving birth at BPM Husniyati from October to November 2020 with 32 mothers giving birth. Samples using accidental sampling technique amounted to 30 respondents. More maternal mothers who initiated Early Breastfeeding (78.1%) compared to mothers who did not want to initiate Early Breastfeeding (21.9%). The low risk age level (84.4%) is more than the high risk age level (15.6%). The level of good knowledge (90.6%) is more than the level of lack of knowledge (9.4%). From the Chi Square test statistics comparing the significance level α 0.05 shows the relationship of maternal age about the initiation of early breastfeeding obtained p-value results (0.001) and the relationship of maternal knowledge about early breastfeeding initiation obtained p-value results (0.001). From this study it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between age and mother's knowledge about the initiation of early breastfeeding (IMD) which is carried out on maternity mothers at BPM Husniyati Palembang 2020.
