Abstract

Breast Self Examination (BSE) is to detect breast cancer at an earlier stage. Early detection and good therapy have also been shown to decrease mortality due to breast cancer. Adolescence is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood. Knowledge is the impression in the human mind as a result of the use of its senses. Attitude is a form of evaluation or reaction of feelings. This study aims to determine the relationship of knowledge and attitudes of young women to breast self-examination (SADARI) in SMA Pembina Palembang Year 2016. The design of this study using analytical methods with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were girls in SMA Pembina Palembang with 45 respondents. Sampling of this research using accidental sampling technique that is taking samples by taking individuals who are found in SMA Pembina Palembang. The data taken are primary data and secondary data. Data analysis used is univariate analysis and bivariate analysis by showing chi-square test. Based on the result of bivariate analysis using chi-square statistic test showed the correlation between knowledge, attitude and breast self-examination that is, there is correlation between knowledge of young woman with breast self-examination (p = 0,05) p value (0,00) ≤ α (0,05). There is a relationship of attitude of young women with breast self-examination (BSE) p value (0,04) ≤ α (0,05). High school students in Pembina Palembang often perform breast self-examination (BSE) because it will help to know abnormalities in the breast itself.
