Abstract

Asphyxia neonatorum causes the infant to appear weak, rapidly decreases heart rate, the body becomes blue or pale and reflexes weaken until they disappear and occur when the infant does not receive enough oxygen before, during or after birth.This research use analytical method with cross sectional approach. The population in the study were all mothers in Maternity Room Dr. Ibnu Sutowo Baturaja in 2016 which amounted to 1395 deliveries with a sample of 311 people. Data analysis using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using distribution table and Chi-Square statistical test, with 95% confidence degree. In univariate analysis of 311 respondents experiencing asphyxia occurrence in newborn as many as 195 respondents (62.7%) and who did not experience asphyxia incidence in newborn as much as 116 respondents (37.3%), respondents who experienced KPD As many as 159 respondents (51.1%) and those who did not experience KPD as many as 152 respondents (48.9%). In bivariate analysis obtained There is a significant relationship between KPD with the incidence of asphyxia in newborns with p value 0.003.There is a significant relationship between KPD and the incidence of asphyxia in newborns.
